As part of a new series called Scrapbook Sunday, read my new blog to find out how this creative way of documenting your life can also be very therapeutic. #scrapbooking #scrapbook #scrapbookideas #journaling #stationery #scrapbooklayout #scrapbooksunday
In today's world full of negativity, it's almost impossible to escape the feelings of stress and anxiety. I've always liked finding new ways of letting the steam out. So when the usual route of trying things like hitting the gym, participating in team sports and yoga, or frequent pub sessions with friends fail, it's good to find other, more creative ways of calming down. Don't get me wrong, I like reading a book as much as the next guy, but it doesn't fully take my mind of things, so I needed something more immersive. And the best thing about starting something new is the learning curve. At the start, you really don't have much of an idea of what you're doing, which makes the process much more rewarding and immersive.
My advice here would be to make it your own. Maybe you've just returned from a trip abroad and want to document your memories by including some photos or tickets to museums - this is a great way to start, as you'll have plenty of material like brochures you picked up along the way, with maps of places you visited.
Or if you're like me and just want to have a space for creativity, soon enough your scrapbook will mold into what you love the most, which in my case, is fashion and stationery. So as you can see from the photos above, my scrapbook contains a lot of fashion cutouts from magazines I have read recently. So it's not exactly a journal of my life as such and more like a creative outlet, full of inspiration and colour.
There's so many products out there to help you along, just walk into Paperchase and you'll feel instantly inspired. There's washi tapes of different colours and patterns, there's stamps and stickers, gel pens in a rainbow of colours, there truly are no limits to your imagination. So just start putting things together and give it a try!
Just use the hashtag (#scrapbookchallenge) if you need more prompts or on days when you don't feel inspired and you'll be right back in the game, as there's so many amazing ideas you can find from others online. Or you could also right-click through my gallery below.
My next challenge will be to use my iPad and find an app that suits me best and bring my scrapbooking into a digital form (#digitalscrapbook), which is more sustainable going forward. So will keep you guys updated, on what I find out.
