As I like to combine fashion with stationery in my blog posts, this time is no different and I thought I'd concentrate on the different hues of pink, as I've been seeing them everywhere from fashion catwalks, street style outfits or sakura themed stationery. #fashion #stationery #pinktrend
Pink isn't just a colour, it's an attitude
I love this time of year, flowers are blooming and there is a fresh smell of Spring in the air, weather is warmer, everyone's spending more time outside and you start feeling bold and straight away want to wear more colour to express your happy mood. Or at least I am!
As seen on the catwalks during fashion week, or streets of New York, Paris, Milan and London, everyone is embracing the trend of the colour pink. If it's blazers, handbags or even people's hair, it's shining from all corners and the brighter the better. And there's so many shades - fiesta, neon pink, bubblegum pink, living coral, pink peacock - you name it, it's all happening!
Sakura season in the stationery world
As I mentioned in one of my previous posts, Japanese stationery is my absolute favourite! It's kawaii cute and absolutely lifts my spirits every time I use even just a Hello Kitty pen or some Sakura washi tape. As Marie Kondo would say, "It sparks joy!".
As you can see in the photos below, I use my Midori Traveler's Notebook and one of their kraft inserts for my fashion scrapbooking. But I've just heard that they are coming out with new inserts and accessories this April, these will include dotted inserts which will be perfect for journalling as well as a special paper ideal for watercolours - how amazing is that?
Now that Sakura (cherry blossom) season is upon us, lots of stationery items such as washi tapes, stickers and pens come in special cute pink cherry blossom designs, which is so extra! As you can see on the detailed photos below, the favourites from my personal collection are the sakura washi tapes, my multi-coloured gel pens I got in Japan (you can easily erase them using the rubber at the end, which is very handy) and my light pink My Melody pen. I'm a huge fan of all the Sanrio stationery products. I keep my pens in a neoprene Mt. Fuji case, which I got while on a tour of the famous mountain (used it as a camera case on the day, so it's multi-purpose, which is great when travelling, and also a nice souvenir).
What are your favourite stationery items for this Spring? If you're like me and love Japanese stationery. Here are some of my favourite stores to find inspiration in:
Artbox - especially for Sanrio products, amazing selection
Tofu Cute - got to know them at Anime conventions, very kawaii
The Journal Shop - the ultimate for pro journaling
Japan stationery - so much variety and beautiful craftsmanship
Fox + Star - beautiful online store with Japanese and Korean stationery
The Japanese Shop - they also do postcards and origami paper sets
Or you can also go on Etsy, which is quite addictive and you'll be spoilt for choice in a heaven of fluffy pink. It's nice to support smaller retailers, as there's so much talent out there! Happy browsing.
